Clarity – what you want and how you’ll move forward

Calm – easing the load on your nervous system

Action – small steps that change everything

If any of this is true for you, you’re in the right place:

We don’t stay circling the problem. We build change.

Solution-focused brief therapy focuses on what works and what you want more of.

My role is to help you find direction and turn it into something concrete – quickly and safely.

  • Your body starts to slow down.
Your thoughts ease, your breath deepens, and for the first time in a while you feel: I am safe.

  • The knot in your head loosens.
You understand what is truly yours and what is just learned, carried or other people’s expectations.

  • After the call, a direction starts to appear.
Your thoughts become clearer, and it feels easier to see your next step.

  • You’re strong for others, but tired on the inside

  • You think a lot, but don’t get into action

  • You want help, but don’t have the energy for a long process

  • You want clarity: what’s true, what’s not, what now?

  • You’re at a turning point in your life (work, relationships, identity)

What is the best that can come from the first call?

This is not therapy where you stay stuck in one place

Many have already talked a lot.
Analyzed. Understood. Known.
Yet nothing has changed permanently.

That’s why my way of working is solution-focused, but direct:

  • You don’t have to be the one who always keeps it together anymore.
You’re allowed to be YOU – without everything falling apart.

  • You learn to listen to yourself without guilt.
What you want, what you don’t, and why that’s completely okay.

  • You build a relationship with yourself that will carry you forward.
No dependency on therapy, but a stronger inner support.

One session can be the beginning of change

One session won’t fix everything.
But it can change the direction.

And above all:
you’re no longer alone with what you’re carrying.

Why I do this work this way

I was born in the middle of war.
I grew up without a sense of safety I could take for granted.
I’ve personally experienced mental overload and what it feels like to desperately look for help.

When I found ways to change my own inner reality, I understood:

A person is not broken.
They have often just been alone for too long.

Today I work as a therapist and coach so that change doesn’t stay years away but begins when a person is ready.

I don’t promise a perfect life. I promise tools with which you can build your own.

– Tara Vallenius

Who this way of working is for

This is for you if:

  • you’re tired of just surviving

  • you want real change, not just more understanding

  • you’re willing to pause for a moment so you can move forward

This is not for you if you’re looking for a quick fix without your own involvement.

If something in this felt familiar

For now, that’s enough...

You don’t have to know everything yet.
It’s enough that you feel: now is the time to do something differently.

This is not for you if…

you don’t feel ready to look at things also outside of the sessions

you’re looking for a quick fix without an active role of your own in the change

you’re hoping for clear instructions more than the building of your own insights

You don’t have to manage it all alone.

If something in you says “now,” trust that.
Even a small decision can be the beginning of the peace you’ve been searching for.

Change doesn’t have to take years. It’s enough that you begin.
I want you to be able to try this at your own pace and in safety.

My background and expertise

My work is grounded in long-term professional experience, continuous training, and a genuine curiosity about the human mind, behaviour, and interaction.

I am a social services professional with over 10 years of experience working with people in different life situations. I have worked as a coach and a solution-focused brief therapist, guiding people towards clarity, a more functional everyday life, and better self-understanding.

Education and professional background

  • Solution-focused brief therapist

  • Master’s level background in social services (YAMK), with a focus on ecosocial and global competence

  • NLP Practitioner, Finnish NLP Academy

  • Mindfulness instructor training

  • Work coach

I am particularly interested in how the unconscious mind works and how thoughts, emotions and behaviour patterns can be influenced through communication and awareness. Because of this interest, I have also studied hypnosis and participated in international seminars in London, including trainings with Paul McKenna and Richard Bandler.

Work experience with different life situations

I have worked with many different people in various life situations and transition phases. My experience includes working:

  • with asylum seekers before the war in Ukraine and during the war

  • in child protection substitute care (in a residential children’s home setting)

  • with families in demanding and challenging life situations

  • as a work coach, supporting people through changes related to working life and strengthening their resources

  • as a trainer, guiding professional growth as well as personal and psychological empowerment

These experiences have especially taught me how, in different life situations, a person can carry both survival and hope at the same time, and how important it is to be met calmly, without assumptions.

Author and social actor

I am an author, and my books are available on Amazon. Writing is my way of making sense of humanity, the mind, and the meaningfulness of life – the same themes that are central in my therapeutic work as well.

I have appeared on radio and in newspapers, organised multicultural events, and participated in various charity and social projects. I have founded two companies and been actively involved in community building.

The human behind the profession

I am a mother and a wife. Everyday life, responsibility, and relationships are familiar to me also outside of my work. This is reflected in the way I work: down-to-earth, humane, and without putting myself above anyone.

I don’t approach people through diagnoses or assumptions, but by listening and making sense of things together. My background provides a framework, but every encounter is individual.

In my work, education, experience, and human curiosity come together, along with a deep respect for the fact that each person’s life and story are unique.

Client feedback:

What my clients say about me

"Before my first session I was sceptical. I was on the verge of a deep depression and no longer had trust in anyone or anything. Tara’s calm and safe presence made a huge difference. I gradually started to become more patient, more hopeful, and to notice the good in different situations. Having Tara as my therapist and support, even for a short time, was a privilege and one of the most positive experiences I’ve had in years."

"I hadn’t been to therapy before and didn’t know what to expect, but Tara made opening up easy. Those calls were a lifeline during a difficult summer. I gained real understanding of how my mind works, as well as practical tools to guide my thinking in a more positive direction. I can’t stress enough how meaningful it is to get help when you really need it. 5/5!"

Frequently asked questions

How quickly can I notice a change?

Change doesn’t always show up immediately as big insights. Often it begins subtly: your thoughts become clearer, you feel lighter, or your direction starts to take shape. Even a single session can bring new perspectives, but everyone’s process moves at its own pace.

What if I don’t know what’s wrong with me?

That’s very common. You don’t need to have the right words or a clear explanation in advance. In our sessions, we start from where you are right now and make sense of things together, calmly.

Is this therapy or coaching?

This work combines solution-focused brief therapy with a coaching approach. That means a safe space to talk, but also a practical, forward-moving perspective. The approach adapts to your situation and your needs.

How does a session take place?

Sessions are held remotely, either by phone or online. Remote therapy allows for a calm environment in your own space, without travelling or waiting.

Can I start with just one session?

Yes. You can start with a single session and then calmly see whether the work feels right for you. There is no obligation to continue.

What if I feel nervous about talking?

Feeling nervous is completely understandable, especially if you haven’t been to therapy before. In our sessions, we go at your pace, and you don’t have to say anything until it feels safe for you.

Do I have to commit to a longer process?

No. Our work doesn’t require long-term commitment. You can proceed one session at a time or decide on further sessions later if it feels natural.

How much does a session cost?

A single session costs €120. The first session is –50% (€60) so you can start calmly and without commitment.

No commitment. No waiting. Remote sessions.
